Since the inaugural Melbourne Cello Octet concert in 2022, this unique ensemble comprising of eight of Australia's premiere cellists has been growing and performing throughout Melbourne and greater Victoria. In 2023 the hugely successful 12 Cellos Concert took place at the iconic Meat Market Cobblestone Pavillion featuring works arranged by renowned Australian composer Lee Bradshaw and cellist Rohan de Korte for cello ensemble. This included the world premiere of numerous works including Rohan de Korte's 'Wednesday' - a unique combination of the Rolling Stones' 'Paint it Black', the Elgar Cello Concerto, Lady Gaga's 'Bloody Mary' and the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique. 2024 saw the octet's first performance in Phillip Island featured as the first classical music concert to be part of the Ocean Sounds Festival. This ensemble is comprised of eight distinguished musicians who are, in their own right, educators, soloists, early music specialists, groundbreaking contemporary musicians, chamber musicians and orchestral players.
Originally founded as the Daphnis Trio, this ensemble re-launched in 2019 as Daphnis Ensemble.
Daphnis aims to engage audiences in a wide range of chamber music from great classics to the avant garde. Originally founded in 2014 by Belinda Liew, Chris Nankervis (piano) and Nathan Juriansz (violin), the ensemble re-launched in 2019 as Daphnis Ensemble in recognition of our aim to collaborate with some of Melbourne's finest musicians and composers.
The original Daphnis Trio has performed throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria. The Trio has performed regularly as part of the Friends of Music Series at St George's (Travancore) and has worked with numerous young Australian composers, often performing world premieres of their works.
Ensemble Goldentree is a collaborative chamber music project dedicated to the cultivation of engaging experiences with new and rarely performed works.
Ensemble Goldentree was founded by Tim Hannah (horn) and Alison McIntosh-Deszcz (soprano) in 2015. The ensemble specialises in presenting rarely performed music and new Australian compositions for mixed chamber ensemble. We aim to broaden audience perceptions of traditional and contemporary chamber music by showcasing the energy and passion of friends making music together.
Since its inception the ensemble has contributed to the development of chamber music in Australia with new commissions and collaborations and has worked with some of Melbourne’s brightest young composers and musicians.
